For Reeve

When it came to use of his phone, Vincent was very much like Cloud. He left it on, received messages and listened to or read them, but quite rarely responded. The few times he did respond tended to be if he deemed an actual answer to be required, or when from time to time Marlene got hold of Cloud or Tifa's phone and contacted him. Since it was so rare for her to do so, he always took it as a good thing to answer.

Which meant he had answered when she called him a few days after a message from Tifa asking him to come to a party for the girl, which he had ignored; his first mistake. Once answered, the girl had spent several minutes speaking to him, until suddenly springing the question of if he were coming to her party and making it quite impossible for him to really say no without seeming like a total heel, and so he agreed to go; his second mistake. And then he had made his third mistake - actually going.

At first, it really wouldn't have seemed to have been a bad idea. He knew everyone who was invited, how they acted around one another, and that Tifa would keep the whole group from going completely crazy over the course of the night, but he had not expected having to assist in breaking up one of Cloud and Barrett's squabbles when the woman had to leave for a short time to fetch something, and honestly he was glad that Reeve was invited and could help diffuse the situation with; especially when Yuffie and a very unhelpful Cid decided it would be a great idea to bet on who would win if they actually took to fistacuffs over whatever stupid thing it was this time which set them off.

All of this had left him rather done with company, and as soon as Tifa was back to be the adult in the situation, he'd snuck outside for some relative peace and quiet.

Reeve chuckles and shakes his head.

"I've been doing a bit more work from home, now that there is more progress on the new offices. I need to work from home while things are managed."

And he didn't know much about what he should be doing, trying to take up his attention with hope that the new offices will be more secure, and honestly happier, for him.

Working from home likely had its advantages for Reeve, as well as his security detail, but Vincent knows the man as well as anyone and so as he crosses over to hand a hot cup of tea to him, he asks simply. "You're taking breaks, even working from home, I hope?"

Ah the tea. He took it gratefully and smiled at Vicnent before offering him a smile.

"Breaks, what are those?"

"Things that only select members in this group seem to understand." Obviously he means Yuffie, since the rest of the group tends to work all the time; though Reeve and Cloud may be the worst of the lot when it comes to that. "Something you're taking now."

Hey, Tifa takes breaks too.

"I feel like the only thing I am taking is your time and attention. WHich I admit I'm delighting in."

"I don't see how you can take something freely given." Vincent manages a small smile, before nodding at the drink. "Is it too hot or too cold? I'm used to making tea for myself only."

Well that's a good point. Then he let himself sip at the drink again.

"A touch hot, but I need that on a night like this."

"I'll make it a little cooler next time." Vincent takes a sip of his own tea, seemingly unbothered by the heat of it, and falls into silence for the time being as he lets Reeve warm up and make the next move.

"Please dot not," Reeve insisted. "This way it stays at a reasonable temperature longer before it gets cold."

The silence was lovely, comforting, familiar. And, when he set his empty cup aside several minutes later he offered Vincent a smile.

"Perhaps you'd come join me?"

Vincent only nods his acknowledgment to Reeve's request not to lower the temperature of the tea whenever he makes it next, relaxing his shoulders just slightly as he drinks his own; proof that even the usually stoic man enjoys the feel of a warm drink coursing through him on a cool night, perhaps.

He seems to relax even more into the silence, the fact there's no pressure or need to speak for those moments like there often is around the others. Especially those like Barrett and Yuffie, who never seem to quite get that one doesn't always have to say everything that comes to mind.

So perhaps there should be no surprise when he nods again, returning the smile with the faint one he seems to give as he sets his cup down and shifts Reeve's aside so he can sit beside the man.

Beside works. He smiles and lays a hand lightly on Vincent's knee.

"So, what do you do to keep warm at night?"

Beside was a good position at this moment, since it seemed there was still some discussion to be had, even if that discussion was merely a sort of continued foreplay from before. Or perhaps just a sign that Vincent could be aggravatingly slow about things when he wished to be.

Whatever the case was, there's a small look behind Vincent's eyes at the question asked, a hint of amusement as he ponders how to answer the question. Ponders if he should continue to be more forward or if he should resign back to being ever hard to read. It's thankfully only a momentary thing, a passing thought, as he finally answers quite plainly but with a hint of acknowledging exactly what Reeve means as he leans closer to the man.

"Nothing entertaining, just blankets, fires and tea."

When did Vincent NOT wish to be aggravatingly slow.

"Blankets and fire sounds nice. Tea too. You've got a very comfortable little set up. I suppose if I suggested a pet you would think that was too much effort, yes?"

"Way too much for me." Vincent replies. "Besides, I'd never be home to care for it and that's no fair to the pet. Right?"

"You are not wrong, it wouldn't be fair. Though some are highly independent. Maybe a bond with a bird?"

"That's Cid." He's deadpan again, knowing Reeve will get the terrible joke, before he leans a little nearer to the ex-Shinra employee. "Or maybe if you come enough, I won't need a pet?"

"Are you suggesting I would serve as a different sort of pet for you?" Reeve asked, smiling in amusement.

"At least a pleasant and happy distraction." Vincent watches Reeve, that amused smile, and raises the human hand up gently to place it on Reeve's shirt, fiddling with a button. "I'm not good at being forward, though... Not always. So if you can deal with that still..."

Vincent's tone indicates a question; do you want to make this more and more physical, or stop it where it is?

A pleasant and happy distraction until he got bored. Reeve could be just as troublesome as a cat when he was bored.

"Perhaps you aren't good at being forward, but that doesn't mean I can't invite behavior, I hope. I'd appreciate getting to feel your skin again."

Vincent was not the type to get bored easily when it came down to relationships, something Reeve probably knew quite well, even if he might think otherwise by the words the longer haired man had spoken. After all, Vincent had spent a great many years on his own lamenting a woman who had ultimately betrayed him.

Not that it mattered much. Reeve's thoughts were his own, just as Vincent's thoughts stayed his own and only time would tell what would come of all of this. Time that could be damned for any serious thoughts at this particular moment.

A short nod acknowledges Reeve's words, the hand on his shirt finally working a button loose as Vincent leans over to kiss the head of the WRO, letting Reeve know he could certainly invite this behavior if he so wanted.

Well yes, that is absolutely inviting. Reeve's fingers came up and curl in Vincent's hair, holding him close in the kiss. He keeps the kiss light for now, but he has every intent of escalating it later.

Vincent doesn't seem to mind that Reeve's hand finds its way to his hair again, being this long he figures most people would enjoy playing with it sometimes given the situation they were in, and so he only focuses on that kiss and Reeve.

Fingers undo another button, trying to recall just how many there were again, as fingers lightly trace any available skin and his clawed hand carefully presses at Reeve as if to imply he should lay back and enjoy himself.

Far too many buttons. Were it not for the fact that Reeve hadn't brought nearly enough clothes, he would have absolutely gone so far as to tell Vincent to just rip it off. As it was he shivered at the fingers of that flesh hand running over his skin.

Only then did he pull away from the kiss.

"You're good with your hands."

It was unlikely Vincent would have listened if Reeve had said to tear at the fabric; he had no desire to destroy property, or to even risk accidentally getting on the man's bodyguard's bad side by doing so. And besides, there was some small advantage to having time to work on the buttons, create an even greater atmosphere of need or want by having to take that time.

Though this doesn't mean Vincent stops working the buttons when Reeve pulls back, or even as he himself smiles softly and chuckles as he responds to the remark. "I would hope so, since guns are my thing. It's no good to have bad hands with small parts. Something you know well."

Enough of the buttons undone, Vincent raises his hand to press some of the cloth of the coat away, leaning over to lightly nip at Reeve's neck, curious as to the response he will get from it.

Oh there were definitely some build up with those fingers on him. Very good build up. One that makes Reeve shiver, his body pressing up into any press of Vincent's fingers he can get.

"My fingers are smart, but they never provoke so much as you do," Reeve answered, but the words devolved into a gasp with the nip. He leaned up more into that touch, clearly seeking something sharper.

"I have no meetings for a while, I can have some marks."
